The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency (Agency), in support of National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day which is May 2nd, is waiving all fees associated with green waste delivered to the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station (BuRRT). Through this program, the Agency hopes to encourage residents of Santa Fe City and County to cleanup brush, branches and leaves that have accumulated in their yards.
Removing accumulated brush, leaves, branches and other dried, flammable debris from yards and the community, will help to reduce the spread and generation of wildfires.
For the first four (4) weekends of May, any loads of green waste dropped off at BuRRT will have no cost associated with them. The dates are: May 2 & 3, 9 & 10, 16 & 17 and 23 & 24. Green waste delivered during the week will carry the normal tip fees.
What is green waste? Green waste consists of the following materials: grass, weeds, brush, leaves, small branches, and manure.
How should green waste be delivered? Please consolidate green waste into a vehicle, truck bed or trailer. Green waste normally carries a tip fee of $20/ton. Customers that bring in bagged green waste, and don’t unbag it, will be charged normal waste fees of $50/ton. Any contaminated loads will be assessed the normal $50/ton. Please secure your green waste loads prior to transporting to BuRRT.
