SANTA FE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT AGENCY HOSTS E-SCRAP AND HHW AMNESTY DAY TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL AMERICA RECYCLES DAY

Santa Fe, NM – November 10, 2014 – The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency and Keep Santa Fe Beautiful are supporting National America Recycles Day by hosting an HHW and E-scrap Amnesty Day. On Saturday November 15, 2014 from 9am-1pm, the Agency & KSFB are encouraging City & County residents to dispose of their household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic scrap (e-scrap) at no charge.

Examples of HHW include:

  • Motor Oil & Antifreeze
  • Paints, Stains Varnishes, Lacquers & Thinners
  • Pesticides & Herbicides
  • Cleaning Products
  • Aerosol Cans
  • Rechargeable Batteries
  • Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • 5 Gallon Containers or smaller, No 55 Gallon Drums accepted!

    If you have another material you think might qualify, please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to let you know if it’s acceptable.

    Examples of E-Scrap include:

  • Televisions (CRT & Flat Screen)
  • Computers, Keyboards, Mice, etc.
  • Monitors, Printers
  • Cellphones
  • Gaming Systems
  • The purpose of the Agency Amnesty Day program is to help reduce illegal dumping, make it easier for residents to cleanup dump sites and make our community a cleaner place. HHW is normally accepted at BuRRT every Friday & Saturday and E-scrap is accepted 7 days/week. Both of these categories typically cost $0.025/lb with a $0.50 minimum for disposal. No commercial waste will be accepted.

    During this event, green waste, tires, and trash will be assessed normal charges. As per City of Santa Fe Ordinance, ALL trash loads must be covered and tarped. If your load it not tarped you will be assessed a $15/load penalty.
